Last fall a photography friend asked a bunch of us if we wanted to join a "project 365" group together and since I'm up for any new photography challenge I jumped in with both feet. Now that the new year is here I put some thought to what I hope to gain from the experience.
An archive of our daily lives - Needing to find a moment each and every day will give us an archive of our year in a way I would have never captured before. It won't be of just vacations or special outings. For practicality, it will have breakfasts, quiet moments, the good and the not-so-good.
Improved perspective - I will push myself to look at things differently. For example, if my daughter is drawing, what is the most interesting way to capture that moment.
Gain exposure to new techniques - Being in a large group of photographers - some professional, some just as a hobby - will expose me to new styles of photography, new styles of editing, new tools, new locations, new equipment.
Be part of a greater "thing" - In the end, all those other benefits are fantastic, but there is something to be said of the comradery of being in a group of motivating women all focused on the same goal, all cheering and supporting you along the way.
And in the end, I'm hoping to finish. I'll try to be flexible - use an iphone, make up a day if necessary.
Here are my photos from the first calendar week in January - January 1, 2 and 3. Hope you enjoy following this journey as much as I enjoy taking it.
